I recently caught up with Christine Wilde, who is currently working remotely at Envato as an Item Reviewer.
– What’s it like working remotely for Envato?
Amazing. I not only like it because Envato is such a great company to work for, but I also love the fact that I can work from home. Becoming a reviewer has helped me to leave the day to day grind of a full time gig. Even though I work remotely, I still feel like a valuable part of the team.
– What are you looking for in new item submissions?
I’m always looking for new and original files that bring a whole new area to GraphicRiver. Items always need to have quality over quantity and detailed documentation. Some of the files do blow my mind as to how much effort and detail the authors put in.
– Do you ever feel bad rejecting any items?
All the time. I know what it is like to have items rejected after spending hours of your time on a item – it can be heart breaking. I always try to help people improve their work. I often see authors coming back with new items after the previous one was rejected and it makes me know they have the passion to keep moving forward and not get kicked back and give up.
– What are some of your favourite marketplace items?
I have too many to mention. The majority of my favourite items are on 3DOcean, only because 3D modelling is a love of mine and I know the amount of work that goes into them. There are a handful of WordPress themes that stand out to me as well as they break the norm.
– Do you get nervous when you submit your own items for review?
Yes, I do still get nervous when uploading my own items. I’m worried what people will think of my item and how it will be perceived by the community. I also worry about sales of course too.
We’d like to thanks Christine once again for her great answers! If you have any more questions you’d like to ask Christine, leave a comment below and I’ll be sure to pass them on to her. For more info about Envato, visit their website.
